Script Surgery takes place on the last Wednesday of the month from 3-5pm. In line with current restrictions, all events are currently taking place via Zoom.
31st March – Redrafting toolkit
Join Paperwork’s Co-Artistic Director and freelance dramaturg, Hayley Greggs for a practical redrafting workshop. We’ll be sharing top tips & useful exercises to help you approach your next draft.
This session is for playwrights and theatre makers who are looking for advice about the drafting process but it may also be helpful to directors and dramaturgs who want to learn more about critical response. The workshop will last approx. an hour and a half, stick around for a Q&A.
28th April – Working with a Dramaturg: Tips for Effective Feedback
April’s Script Surgery will be an hour’s workshop with Everyman & Playhouse New Works Associate Frank Peschier on giving and asking for feedback. We all know that sometimes getting notes can be painful, so in this workshop we will look at how to take the sting out by:
– Looking at how to effectively ask for feedback and constructive criticism
– What to look for as a reader and how to communicate notes in a supportive way
– Thinking about your individual style and bringing that to your dramaturgy.
The workshop will be an hour long with time for discussion and questions afterwards.
26th May – one-to-one dramaturgy meetings
Our one-to-one meetings are a chance to get bespoke dramaturgical advice on a 10-15 page extract of your work in progress from freelance dramaturg and Paperwork’s Co-Artistic Director, Hayley Greggs in association with e&p New Works Associate, Francesca Peschier.
Meetings are 30 minutes long and will be allocated a week in advance. There are only 8 meeting slots available so we draw names at random.
